Tri of Compassion

I did the Victoria 1/2and, unfortunately, in the 100's of names, mine was missed - not a biggie. So, as you requested in the last digest, this is to let you know I completed the Tri of Compassion on Sunday. It was a training day for the Vancouver 1/2 Iron so I had the reins pulled tight trying to keep my sprained hamstring happy. Now I'm sad because I was only about a minute and a half from getting a ribbon. Poop. But everything is still intact for this coming Sunday and that was the whole idea. Still, a ribbon would have been nice. Off I go for a bike, a swim and some work in the garden. Have a great day

Sri: Looking for relay partners

Hi there, I'm hoping you guys can help me. I'm a slacking off triathlete who only cycles these days. I'd really like to do the Sri Chinmoy/Self Transcendence Tri in August but I need a swimmer and/or runner to compete. Do you mind putting the call out to the club? Thanks

Andrea Robson

There is anoptional hike is another 600 ft or so of elevation gain through alpine meadows (with possibly some snow and marmots) to Hurricane Hill. Please let me know if you are interested in this ride. We will leave early in the morning by the Coho ferry to Port Angeles, and return on an afternoon sailing. Contact kevin_c_taylor@yahoo.com.

TWC Cycling News

Events and life in general seem to have taken their toll on the Saturday ride turnout this last week. Nevertheless we had nine riders initially for a repeat of the Munn Road ride. Sue elected to ride the Peninsula solo and I thought that Pat (who hasn't been out much recently), Martine and I would form a slow group. Things became a little exciting when a bambi popped out in front of us but we were not moving too quickly and it jumped back where it came from without incident. Bob's group waited for us at the junction of Prospect and Millstream Lake Roads where they had picked up Dan who was out doing his own thing. More welcome resting and conversation took place along Munn Road when we came across Bill and Laura going in the opposite direction. Traffic was fairly light which is a good thing considering the tight turns and narrowness of that road. A few riders peeled off at West Saanich while the rest of the group continued along Wallace, Oldfield, across the Highway and back home along Lochside. It was a good, hot and hard ride and I confess to sleeping for most of the afternoon.

Saturday rides will continue, meeting at Francelli's Coffee Shop in the Royal Oak Shopping Centre at 9:00 am.

If anyone is interested in a ride on Saturday morning of about 2 hrs duration or 40 km please contact Rosemary at: rosehen@shaw.ca

The Wednesday evening group rides continue to leave at 6pm - also from Francelli's. Send me an email bwooff@telus.net if you're thinking of joining us and keep in mind that if it's raining I'm more likely to stay at home.
