    It's party time

Now that spring is possibly here and we long-suffering runners & triathletes have pulled thru an abysmal winter - except Dan who escaped it in Thailand, it's time to celebrate. Karen and Tony Knott will host a brunch run/walk on Easter Sunday at 9 a.m. Bring a potluck dish to share. Dan will show some photos of his 2½ month trip to Thailand and Singapore after brunch. We'll also have a Special Easter Event and prizes. Karen & Tony's place is at 629 Senanus Dr. which runs west from Mt. Newton X-Rd. where it crosses West Saanich Rd. If you need directions, e-mail Karen at

    karenvknott@shaw.caor call her at 544-4985.

    Island Race Series Carpooling

Anyone wishing to carpool to out of town races can meet at the Helmcken Road park-and-ride lot. All out of town races start at 11:00, so departure times are suggested so that arrival at the race is approximately 10:00 to allow time for a coffee along the way and a warm-up jog before the race.

    TWC Cycling News

It appears that we have now reached a critical mass for Saturday rides where we can offer something for just about everyone. Approximately 20 riders showed up last Saturday (it was hard to get an accurate count in the parking lot with riders milling around). In any event once the decision had been made to head up to Sidney by the usual route the pack naturally morphed into three groups; fast, medium and moderate to slow.

The fast riders went up to Lands End and put in a few extra loops; the medium group missed out the extra loops; and the moderate riders went out along Wain Road. Everyone arrived back at Francelli’s at about the same time. So, if you are looking for a 3 hour ride on Saturday morning you can join a group averaging anywhere from about 27 km/hr (for the fast guys and gals) to 21 km/hr with those who have enough energy left to pull weeds on Saturday afternoon.

Saturday rides will continue, meeting at Francelli's Coffee Shop in the Royal Oak Shopping Centre at 9:00 am.
